11 days, 11 cities and lots of interesting sights!

July 30th, 2010 - August 9th, 2010

  • Warsaw - The capital city of Poland, with its picturesque Old Town, The Royal Bath Park, Jewish Ghetto, and modern shopping centers. The city was extensively damaged during World War II and rebuilt by its citizens. It is the 9th largest city in the European Union by population, and it is located on the Vistula river.
  • Gniezno - This historic city was the first capital of Poland.
  • Poznan - Toledo's sister city! One of the oldest cities in Poland and 5th largest. We will spend two days there, with a free afternoon to visit relatives, see family-related places, or experience the city on your own.
  • Wroclaw - The fourth largest city in Poland with its beautiful Old Town Square, by many believed to be the most beautiful square in the country.
  • Czestochowa - The city famous for its monastery of Jasna Gora, which is a home of the miraculous Black Madonna painting. Every year millions of pilgrims come to Czestochowa.
  • Krakow - One of the largest and oldest cities in Poland and a popular tourist destination. Its historic center was inscribed on the list of World Heritage Sites as the first of its kind.
  • Wieliczka - The famous salt mine from the 13th century, which had been in continuous operation until 2007. It is 327 meters deep and over 300 km long. Its tourist track measures 3,5 km and it features magnificient sculptures made from salt as well as a chapel, underground lake, John Paul II monument - all carved in salt. The mine is often referred to as "the Underground Salt Cathedral of Poland.".
  • Auschwitz - Former Nazi concentration camp, where over a million people, mostly Jews, were killed during World War II. Currently a musemum in remembrance of the victims.
  • Wadowice- The home town of Pope John Paul II.
  • Zakopane - This town is known as "the winter capital of Poland", with its famous Krupowki street, where you can buy unique souvenirs and taste regional food.
  • Niedzica - The Niedzica Castle from 14th century stands at an altitude 556 m.

August 9th - August 12th

  • Sandomierz - One of the oldest and historically most significant cities in Poland, with a beautiful Old Town, historic churches and artits' houses.
  • Lublin - The largest Polish city east of the Vistula river, Lublin is a candidate for the title of European Capital of Culture in 2016
  • Kozlowka - The Kozlowka Palace is considered to be one of the most beautiful magnate residencies in Poland, it is a home for the Museum of Socialism.
  • Kazimierz Dolny - It is one of the most beautifully situated little towns in Poland, with stone layered streets and ruins of old castle, it is an inspiration and a home for many artists.
  • Lukow - A small city, where you could enjoy a bit of everyday "real" Poland.
